Day of Purpose
A Day to Give Back to our Local Community
At Alfred Williams & Company, we're fueled by the belief that a strong community is built on compassion and support. On November 7th, our Charlotte Office came together for their first annual Day of Purpose. From volunteering time to donating resources, we are immensely proud of our team and grateful to everyone who joined us in this collective endeavor. Together, we showcased the strength of unity and the impact we can make when we come together for a common purpose. This year, we're proud to support four incredible non-profit organizations: Charlotte Rescue Mission, Classroom Central, Roof Above, and Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
Charlotte Rescue Mission
Charlotte Rescue Mission was founded in 1938 by a group of Christian business people who wanted to serve those facing homelessness. Because many people who came to the Mission for help during those early years were struggling with addiction, the Mission decided to pivot to focus on addiction recovery.
Classroom Central
Classroom Central fosters equity in education by providing teachers and students with the free resources they need to succeed. Since opening its doors in 2002, it has expanded into six school districts, serving 162,000+ students in 227 schools in CMS, Gaston County, Iredell-Statesville, Union County, City of Kannapolis, and Lancaster County, South Carolina. Teachers and other school personnel can receive free supplies if 50% or more of their students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
Roof Above
Roof Above was born out of the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, two prominent organizations long recognized as community leaders in homeless services. Today, Roof Above is a comprehensive homeless service provider serving 1,200 people per day through a spectrum of services ranging from street outreach, day services, emergency shelter, and permanent supportive housing.
Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child
The Samaritan's Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts filled with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items—and delivers them to children in need around the world. For many of these children, the gift—filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project of its kind, has collected and delivered more than 209 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 170 countries and territories. In 2023, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach another 11 million children and is celebrating its 30th year of ministry!
Thank you to Charlotte Rescue Mission, Classroom Central, Roof Above, and Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for the incredible work you do. Let's carry the spirit of giving forward, making every day an opportunity to uplift those around us!
